I never really had a dating type. Guys I have gone for have ranged all over the place in looks, profession, personality, etc. I go for smart and a compatible sense of humor, but a lot of the other things are up for grabs. Except for this guy I just went on a few dates with.
Let me back this story up just a tiny bit. I just got out of an over a year and a half long relationship with a libertarian Captain in the Air Force with no relationship experience before me. That lack of experience was pretty much the main problem in our relationship, as he didn’t want to commit so seriously to his first girlfriend ever, despite leading me on for so long and putting me through a year of hell in the process. Such is how life goes.
So as I dip my feet back into the dating pool sludge, I meet a nice guy who is a libertarian Captain who just got out of the Army and has very little relationship experience (an on again, off again girlfriend in college).
Not being active duty, and at least having a relationship before me is a step in the right direction. I guess… And neither of these guys were the first active or retired military I have dated. Heck, Air Force wasn’t even the first fighter pilot I had gone out with. So there isn’t enough yet to form a pattern. But standing in the Army Captain’s house, looking at all the military plaques on the wall of his office, I couldn’t help having a giant feeling of Deja-vu. That I had been in this exact spot a year and a half ago. Which was a little strange to say the least.
